Abstract
The study aims to study the productive and economic indicators of dairy production (DP) in Egypt. This study relied on published and unpublished secondary data and employed both descriptive and quantitative analysis methods. The most important results are: 1. The average production quantity (PQ) of cow, buffalo and goat milk and the total PQ of milk in Egypt amounted to 3.32, 2.26, 0.10, 5.69 million tons with a normal growth rate of 2.4, 5.8%, while the rate of decline in the PQ of buffalo milk amounted to 4.3%. 2. The average PQ of dairy imports and the size of the food gap in Egypt amounted to approximately 1,097, 6.79, and 1,097 million tons, with an annual growth rate of approximately 1.6, 0.3, and 1.6% for each, respectively. The average self-sufficiency rate amounted to approximately 8.9%, with an annual decline rate of 0.3%, while the average per capita share of dairy amounted to 74.7 kg per year, with an annual decline rate of 2.5%. It has been shown that the most influential variables on the quantity of DP in Egypt are the quantity of dry feed in million tons and the wholesale price of milk in kg in Egyptian pounds.
